Meet the new guest researcher supporter at the International Staff Office
With years of international living and a deep understanding of cultural transitions, Line Vibeke Gunatilake Andersen is here to support guest researcher’s with their arrival at AU.
Here are a few word from Line herself about her new job:
"I have recently joined ISO to work within the Guest Researcher Support. My job is to support both guest researchers and guest PhD students visiting the university, as well as their AU-hosts.
I joined ISO from a different position within the university, but am thrilled to make this change, which allows me to engage with a wide cross-section of guest researchers and staff. My previous role has given me a good working knowledge of the university and an appreciation for the research our colleagues undertake. I look forward to making a difference to people coming to Denmark from abroad, and to ensuring their arrival in Denmark, and to the university, is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
I have spent 18 years living abroad and have moved internationally myself with my own family – including being the tag-along spouse when returning to Denmark in 2018. My husband is originally Sri Lankan, which means I am accustomed to navigating cultural differences. During my time in the UK, I had the pleasure of working in three different charities alongside people of many nationalities.
All of these experiences enable me to understand the pressures our guests face when undertaking a move to a new country. I hope this will make me both sympathetic to their needs and a reliable source of information when navigating the many systems you face, when you plan your stay in Denmark."
